Winter Favorites

Actually, Danielle Messer is responding to a prompt on her favorite winter Olympic sport, skiing, which she described with falling on her posterior, picking up speed, and being deposited in the woods.  But she might just as well have been describing a bout between Clemson and LSU.

The meeting's Toastmaster was Caitlin Owens, who gave some interesting observations on the winter theme.  Judy Groff as GE complimented Caitlin in her role.  Judy also evaluated the six responders to table topics by Karen Alexander.

Stan Coss speech was on "A-walkin'."  It was about his departing with a portion of one of his organs under the watchful care of a Pardee Hospital surgeon.  It was the simple act of walking that allowed his quick recovery.  Melinda Lowrance was his evaluator.

In table topics, Betty McCallister spoke of feeling like a foreigner sometimes despited being a Henderson County native.  Jeanne spoke with satisfaction about her son's making a proper igloo.  Don Groff  told about the engineering marvel of the Panama Canal he and Judy had just visited.  Mary Beth Dallman reflected on features of her favorite season that included flip-flops and fall leaves.

The Eyes and Ears team was composed of the following: Word Master, Don Glovan; Grammarian, Karla Reese; Timer, Wendy Whittaker; Ah Counter, Jeanne Resen.

Joke Master Molly Garnett gave an interesting take on Hickory Dickery Dock.  And now just before the clock struck nine the acting president, Karen Alexander in Susann's Swan's absence, concluded the meeting. But she did so only after some important comments.  One was about the opportunity for an officer to get TLI training at 7-9:00 on February 19th at Habitat for Humanity.  Another was about a new partnership between Rotary clubs and Toastmasters.  What potential power to tap into!

Members attending were the following: Karen Alexander, Mary Beth Dallman, Molly Garnett, Don Glovan,  Don Groff, Judy Groff,  Melinda Lowrance, Betty McCallister, Danielle Messer, Caitlin Owens, Karla Reese, Jeanne Resen, and Wendy Whitaker.
