Dreams

Jeanne Resen gave an "Anatomy of a Show" with eight different roles of those in theatre.  Seven of these are behind the scenes: the playwright; the producer; the director; the set and sound and light designers; the stage manager.  Of course there's the actor as well who lives out the role of someone else.  Jeanne gave lots of insights as she has filled all the roles multiple times and currently is heading up a play in Brevard.  Her antagonists, of sorts with this speech, were three interrupters or disruptors that were planted in the audience.  One objective for her project was to handle this disruption smoothly, and she did.  Susann Swan was her evaluator.

Karen Alexander was the Toastmaster, and she gave highlights about Dr. Martin Luther King and other effects of Dreams.  Josh Gravley was Word Master with "surfeit," meaning excess or overabundance.

Judy Groff acted out her part as the most persistent disruptor.  FSTM is honored to have respectful, attentive listeners, usually, for its engaging speakers.

Thanks, Jeanne, for your teaching on a show; we hope to hear more on the Brevard play very soon1

Hoyt Griffith was joke master with four sets of puns.  Stan Coss was Table Topics Master, and all were blessed with prompts responded to amazingly by two guests.  Members called upon did well, too: Sally Jones, Don Groff, and Mary Beth Dallman.

The Eyes and Ears Team was composed of the following: Molly Garnett, Grammarian; Don Glovan, Timer;  Ah-Counter, Caitlin Owens.

Members attending were the following: Karen Alexander,  Stan Coss, Mary Beth Dallman,  Molly Garnett,  Don Glovan, Josh Gravley, Hoyt Griffith, Don Groff, Judy Groff, Sally Jones,  Melinda Lowrance, Betty McCallister,  Caitlin Owens, Karla Reese, Jeanne Resen,  and Susann Swan.

Guests were plentiful but not surfeit: Ray Daley; Area Director Bryan Smith; Bill ____; Renee ___ .  We hope these last two return so the secretary can record their names.

  1. Guest Bill’s last name is Mitchell. Molly says he is a volunteer in her department at Pardee and was a Toastmaster for 10 years! Maybe he'll decide to renew. . . .
