The Theme of Adventure!

Here are two "denizens" of Four Seasons Toastmasters: Ron Climer as Toastmaster and Karen Alexander as Table Topics Master.  The Toastmaster is not normally an impromptu role, but our experienced club ventured forth with just an "invisible" agenda and guidance from Ron.  Karen could be counted on to give prompts that elicited the upmost adventure from each recipient.

Wendy Whitaker as joke master had her chief character prod under a bed for laughs and Susann Alexander occupied her space well as word master.

Jeanne Resen spoke on "Positive Attitude" and encouraged members to be less harsh on themselves and reverse negativity.  In her speech adventure she explored "whymeitis," identified limitations, reframed for a more positive outcome and emphasized the power of simple listening.  Karla Reese was her evaluator.

Molly Garnett took us on an adventure in introducing herself with the ever-enlightening ice-breaker.  She spoke on "Connections, Words, and Moments."  She developed each of these topics in how they connected with important aspects of herself, using audience participation, her words elevated to masterpiece status on the third grade wall, and her job as spiritual care manager at Pardee.  Stan Coss was her evaluator.

The eyes and ears team consisted of the following: Hoyt Griffith, grammarian; Melinda Lowrance, ah-counter; Mary Beth Dallman, timer.  Betty McCallister was GE and TTE.

President Susann Swan had Judy Groff review the Christmas Extravaganza given consensus last week, beginning with a parade entry of a truck and trailer, with members to hand out candy and promotional info on Toastmasters, and then concluding with a potluck lunch and party at the Groffs.

The ballot count for favorite characters had Santa with the top vote easily going to Santa.  The Grinch came in second, but a very close third went to Max, the Grinch's dog.  As it turns out, a cartoon character may not be the best addition to promotional literature.  So, another design is in the works.

Members attending were the following: Karen Alexander, Ron Climer, Stan Coss, Mary Beth Dallman, Brad Dienst, Molly Garnett, Josh Gravley, Hoyt Griffith, Don Groff, Judy Groff, Sally Jones, Melinda Lowrance Betty McCallister, Caitlin Owens, Karla Reese, Jeanne Resen, Susann Swan, and Wendy Whitaker.

Attendance was probably a record high at 18.  22 are on the unofficial roll but some are a bit late in dues payment.  We do welcome Melinda, Brad, and Mary Beth back after their hiatus from Toastmasters!  Caitlin has certainly been missed, too, but her time away was not as prolonged.
