Thanks to Pilgrims, Tombstones, and Brewing
Don Groff set the record straight as Word Master with the word "Pilgrim." He pointed out that Pilgrim is not only a person that journeys to a sacred place but also the maiden name of Melinda Lowrance. Melinda has improperly been addressed as Melissa in the past, so it was duly noted that Melinda does not identify with Melissa but with Melinda, Lowrance, and Pilgrim.
Speaker Hoyt Griffith and Speaker Danielle Messer smoothy presented interesting powerpoints.
Hoyt explored epitaphs that have added special meaning to tombstones. His evaluator was Molly Garnett.
Danielle gave a speech on her work with the Sierra Nevada Brewery at Mills River. She said that worker and guest safety is one of her chief concerns. She added that there are a million guests each year to the tap room! Her evaluator was Judy Groff.
Sergeant at Arms Melinda Pilgrim Lowrance. Melinda admits that she was not one of the original pilgrims, but she fervently embraces the sacred journey all the same.
Sally Jones gave the general and TT evaluation.
The eyes and ears team consisted of the following: ah counter- Melinda Lowrance, grammarian- Caitlin Owens, timer- Mary Beth Dallman. Joke Master Stan Coss doesn't belong here, but there's no other place to put him.
Members attending were the following: Stan Coss, Mary Beth Dallman, Molly Garnett, Hoyt Griffith, Don Groff, Judy Groff, Sally Jones, Melinda Lowrance, Betty McCallister, Danielle Messer, Caitlin Owens, Jeanne Resen, and Susann Swan.
After the meeting, Judy conducted a stand-up meeting on the upcoming parade entry. Many details were worked out, but continued preparations will be important on the December 7th event. "Communicate with Confidence." A banner on each side of the truck is to be printed with "Four Seasons Toastmasters." A trailer pulled behind will have a lectern with a speaker and four chairs.
